Run For A Student Association Office!

Positions available: President, Vice President, Senator-At-Large, University Council, and SUNY Assembly Delegate. (See below for position descriptions.) Self-nomination forms are available in the Student Association (SA) Office, Campus Center 116, and due back to the Office by Friday, March 13th at 4:55 p.m. Please note that self-nomination forms for President and/or Vice-President must include a petition form (available in the SA Office) signed by 50 undergraduate students.

A mandatory candidates meeting will be held on March 13th at 5:30 p.m. sharp in Campus Center 375. Campaigning will begin after this meeting. The election will be held on March 23rd and 24th via MyUAlbany. If you have any questions, contact Janette Vargas, SA's Elections Commissioner, at saelect@albany.edu.

Position descriptions:

PRESIDENT - serve as Chief Executive Officer and custodian of a $2 million budget and 200 student organizations; represent/advocate for the undergraduate student body and work closely with administration and campus governance to improve the student experience; review long-range plans and provide input on student preferences; oversee 40-person staff of students and full-time professionals including executive board (programming, marketing, multicultural affairs, gender & sexuality concerns, elections, athletics, and ATV); serve on University Auxiliary Services Board of Directors

VICE PRESIDENT - provide oversight of Copies Plus; supervise executive board and office staff; support President on initiatives

SENATOR-AT-LARGE (12 vacancies) - serve as voice to 1,000 undergraduate students; attend weekly Senate meetings and serve on sub-committee

UNIVERSITY COUNCIL - serve as undergraduate representative to campus board of trustees; provide feedback regarding major administrative policies of the University

SUNY ASSEMBLY DELEGATE (2 vacancies) - provide voice to NYS government and SUNY Administration regarding policies and initiatives that impact SUNY as a whole; represent SUNY students at two statewide conferences per year

All positions take effect at the first meeting of the 2009-2010 Student Association Senate.
